The first chocolate cake that Chef Lucy Xaba made was the start of 4 incredible years for JL Bakery in Welkom. When Chef Lucy graduated as a pastry chef from the Food and Beverage Institute in Bloemfontein, her close friend in Welkom ordered a moist chocolate cake. From there, orders started coming in week by week. She fast established JL Bakery as a professional bakery in the heart of Welkom, serving customers with custom cakes and cupcakes for all special occasions. From vanilla sponge cakes to chocolate cupcakes, Chef Lucy does it all from scratch. She has crafted her own recipes and never uses ‘Easy Mix’ as a professional pastry chef. Some of her unique recipes she created include red velvet flavour, vanilla, chocolate, carrot, as well as lemon poppy seed flavour.
